Happy release day!!! Today is the big day for my werewolf romance, Midnight Cravings! This was by far the funnest thing I've ever written, though the story is certainly not a light one. Midnight Cravings began as a challenge to write something about a werewolf even though I'd never written anything of that nature before. Not one to back down from a challenge, I sat behind the computer and dug in. The result was Stephon, a Greek lycanthrope born in the shadow of Mt. Olympus where the legends of the creatures began.

Audrey has a job most people only dream about, visiting exotic destinations. But her new assignment, writing a review of a remote villa in Greece, exposes more than she’d bargained for—the handsome locals are really murderous werewolves, and worse, her steamy Greek lover is a lycanthrope with Midnight Cravings.

Commitment-phobic Audrey wants nothing more than to prove her worth as a journalist in rustic Arcadia. Then she meets Stephon, a charming local, and wonders if she’ll be able to put the past behind her and learn how to say “yes”…to everything.

But looks, money, and sex appeal mask an ancient evil. Beneath the quaint facade of the village, a curse as old as time keeps Stephon from giving his body—or his heart—to anyone but his true mate. Because when the moon is full, the cravings begin.

Countdown to release day: 1 week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've scheduled my very first book signing EVER for Saturday, October 24 at 1p.m. in the Searcy Hastings. I'm so stoked to be there because I worked at Hastings for years as the book manager. Some of my old friends still work in that store. But I'm also excited to bring my book there since (confession time!) I wrote so much of this story working there. Yes, I admit it. While stocking the shelves with new books, I was secretly brainstorming and plotting Wish for the Moon. In fact, I remember where I was standing--behind my desk--writing an intense scene for my hero-knight on the back of a Hastings napkin (am blushing)!

This book has gone full circle now, because the store just placed an order to stock WFTM on its shelves. Do you think I should give the company a cut of the royalties??? Hmm, maybe not. They're doing just fine, I guess. But hopefully my signing will produce a few sales for them. ;-)

And this time, I'll be the one who gets to sit down behind the table, being treated like royalty: "Okay, folks. Remember I like Earl Grey tea served with Splenda. Not too hot, not too cold. K, thanks!"

Yeah. Right.

Off and on for about 20 years, my father and I have been amateur genealogists. We've traced every branch in our tree as far back as we could until we got stumped (no pun intended) and gave it a rest. My ancestry has driven me to choose some the locales I've used in my "Circle of Destiny" books because I longed to know more about my ancestors' homes.

I knew my maiden name was either Irish or Welsh. It's a variation of Brian, as in Brian Boru, High King of Ireland, and I'd always fantasized I was somehow related. Then I learned about the Welsh connection. One family researcher we ran across claimed our name was a corruption of Brionne and it was Welsh. That would explain our dark hair (though a few cousins have flaming red hair)and my penchant for castles. ;-)

Dad recently got a new version of Family Tree Maker software and whoa!! There he was...the father of the ancestor we'd been stuck on. Not only him but several more generations, taking the family across the ocean and yep, you guessed it, straight into Ireland AND Wales. We actually had ancestors who lived in castles. We had Welsh families with unpronounceable names and Irish grandfathers with the name Fitz(insert Daddy's first name here). But the Welsh branch gives me chill bumps when I think about the eerie coincidence: My family comes from the very same county as the hero from my first novel, Wish for the Moon.

This leads me to wonder about the other branches of my family. The Scots, English and German. Could they have equally romantic backgrounds and homes?

Six Unspectacular Quirks About Me:
1. My favorite beverage is hot tea, preferably jasmine or oolong.
2. I cannot spell "beverage" and rely on spell-check for occasions such as this.
3. I cannot balance much of anything, therefore I never learned to ride a bike--promise!! No coordination either.
4. My favorite Greek god or goddess is Artemis. I love the way she's so kick-butt! She's a terrific archer, and she uses men for target practice. Nice!!
5. One of the things I like to see more than anything else in the world is Spanish moss. Living far from the coast, I get a thrill whenever I see it because I know I'm near the beach.
6. I can reproduce almost any photo in a pencil drawing. It's an odd skill, and I have no idea how I can benefit from it, but it's my talent . I have no other artistic ability, unfortunately.

Yay! I just got the cover art for Wish for the Moon. I must say thanks to Nicola Martinez for a fabulous job! She gave me everything I asked for and more ;) I think it represents the story well. It's almost exactly how I imagined Matthias would look in moonlight.

Great news form my editor! Moonlight Madness will follow Wish for the Moon! I'm tentatively calling the series "Circle of Destiny." I'm so excited to see these stories going to print. I promise Matthias and Carrie will make an appearance in Moonlight Madness. What will they be up to? And what will they think of a wandering Englishman from the Jacobean Era on their property? Coming soon....

I'm very pleased to announce that Wish for the Moon has found a home! The Wild Rose Press has requested my first book and they're interested in a second one! This story has been the book of my heart for so long. I was worried I might not find a home for it, because it's a little different. It's a time travel romance, but it takes place mostly in the past--Medieval Wales, to be exact. After receiving rejections, I'm so thrilled WFTM has finally been noticed.

Now it's juggling time! I have a full-length book to write for the contract. Plus, I have two short stories in the works for Wild Rose and a full-length YA nearly 3/4 done. Yikes!! There's no time for writer's block. Hooray!!

This is the sort of thing my time traveler, Rance, wears when walking through modern-day Cardiff, Wales. He's a non-comformist. So what if people stare? He doesn't plan on being in this time long, anyway.

Besides, if a woman doesn't like him dressed like this, then she certainly can't be the ONE he's destined to meet. He's looking for a modern lady who'll take him just the way he is...romantic, playful, mad, brave, and very male. Only she can be his soulmate--the woman Fate sent him here to find.

This great picture of Ewan McGregor is my inspiration for my latest hero, Ransom Kingsley...or 'Rance.'

It's this enigmatic smile that Rance wears when he's being particularly wicked. I wish the pic was in color, because Ewan has the most amazing blue-green eyes.

My critique partners convinced me to write a sequel to WFTM. I wasn't sure about another time travel, but when I started creating the hero for the next story, it just seemed natural that he would be a time traveler, as well.

The new title is Moonlight Madness. The hero and heroine are from the Jacobean and present-day eras.

Because I was having a hard time committing to my story & its plot, I joined a BIAW group. We encourage each other to reach our weekly word goals while checking in with daily counts. I'm at 7000 for my first week, which is 2000 more than my goal! I'm about to finish the second chapter. This is working great! Procrastination is no longer a problem.

This is a Welsh lovespoon similar to the one my hero Matthias carves in Wish for the Moon. It was handcarved in Wales by Richard Downes. I think the tradition of giving a lovespoon as a courting gift is very romantic. I can't imagine the hours it must take to create one!

This is my current muse. I have this picture on my current One Sheet. It's Gerard Butler. He's the inspiration for my main character in Wish for the Moon. I absolutely love him in Phantom of the Opera.

Hi! Welcome to my blog, Legendary Romance. This blog spot is dedicated to people who love romance novels and movies. As I update the posts, I want to share love stories I've enjoyed and read what others have liked. I'll also be recording my progress as I work toward becoming a published romance author.

I have one complete MS and another one in the planning stages. My complete MS is a romantic time travel set in Medieval Wales (think Somewhere in Time meets Excalibur), entitled Wish for the Moon. My WIP is another romantic time travel, Moonlight Madness (think Mel Gibson's character in Lethal Weapon meets Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing).

The biggest influence in my writing career was probably Johanna Lindsey. I grew up on her books beginning when I was a preteen. While reading everything she wrote, I also became fond of anything British: James Bond, Agatha Christie books, anything Celtic, BBC, Masterpiece Theatre, Shakespeare. I know more about the U.K. than the U.S.!! Naturally, when I started writing, I set my stories in the lands of mist and magic: Wales, England, Scotland, and Ireland.

Now I have some new favorite authors, which I'll post here from time to time, as well as films with strong themes of love and romance.
